Community Guidelines
Masjid Fundraising
Our fundraising policy, and the process organizations must follow before requesting permission to fundraise inside the masjid.
Al Huda Center reviews fundraising requests to help protect the masjid, its worshippers, and the broader community. All fundraising activity must be approved in advance and must follow the masjid’s standards for Islamic conduct, transparency, accountability, and community benefit.
Eligibility
Who Can Apply
Organizations must meet baseline legal and mission requirements.
Legal Requirements
- Must provide an IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter
- Must provide a state certificate of good standing
- Must provide the organization’s EIN number
Mission Requirements
- Mission must align with Islamic values
- Mission must not contradict Sunni Muslim beliefs
- Political campaigning or partisan activity is not allowed
- Al Huda Center retains the right to approve or reject any request
Checklist
Required Documents
A request is not considered complete unless all required items are submitted for review.
- 501(c)(3) tax-exempt letter
- Certificate of good standing
- Authorization letter naming the approved representative(s)
- Photo ID for the lead representative
- Project description, including purpose, intended use of funds, and expected goal
- Marketing materials such as flyers or posters, for masjid approval
- Signed agreement to comply with Al Huda Center fundraising rules
Expectations
Fundraising Rules
Approved activity must be conducted respectfully, safely, and without interfering with worship or community life.
Conduct
- Representatives must act professionally and Islamically
- No pressure tactics or aggressive solicitation
- No interrupting prayers, khutbah, or classes
- Only approved speakers may address the congregation
- No political endorsements or divisive messaging
Use of Space
- Fundraising is only allowed at approved times and locations
- Booths and tables must be pre-approved
- Flyers, posters, and merchandise distribution require approval
- Entrances, shoe racks, and prayer areas must remain clear
Handling Donations
- Donations may only be collected by authorized representatives
- The masjid is not responsible for funds collected
- Cash boxes may not be left unattended
- Receipts should be available upon request
- Online donation links must be official and verifiable
Accountability
Transparency & Oversight
Approved organizations remain accountable both before and after the fundraising activity.
Post-Event Reporting
Within 30 days of fundraising, the organization must provide a written summary that includes:
- Total amount raised
- Intended use of funds
- Any available project updates
Failure to provide follow-up reporting may affect future requests.
Masjid Rights
Al Huda Center reserves the right to:
- Approve or deny any fundraising request
- Limit how often fundraising is permitted
- Stop fundraising activity immediately if rules are violated
- Request proof of financial accountability
- Ban organizations that violate these guidelines
Approval is never guaranteed and may be withdrawn at any time.
Not Permitted
Prohibited Activities
The following are not allowed under our fundraising policy.
- Political fundraising or campaigning
- Fundraising for individuals, unless approved as a verified humanitarian emergency
- Misuse of the masjid’s name or logo
- Distribution of unapproved flyers
- Collecting funds without registration
- Misrepresenting the organization or the project
Application
Request Approval
Organizations seeking to fundraise inside the masjid must submit the official request form.
Please review this policy carefully before applying. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval.
